Editorial policy
How articles on Financial Nirvana are researched, checked, reviewed and corrected.
Our purpose
We write to help Indian readers understand money: how a product works, what it costs, how it is taxed and what can go wrong. We aim to be useful to a reader who has never studied finance, without being wrong in a way that would embarrass us in front of one who has.
Sources
Rules, rates and limits are checked against primary sources wherever possible: the Income Tax Department and the Finance Act for tax; SEBI circulars and studies for markets; the Reserve Bank of India for banking and credit; PFRDA for the NPS; the Ministry of Finance for small savings rates; NSE and AMFI for market and fund data. These sources are linked at the end of each article. Secondary sources (news reports, fund-house explainers) are used only to find a primary source, not as the final word.
Numbers and calculations
Every worked example, table and chart on this site is generated by code from the stated assumptions, not typed by hand, so the arithmetic is consistent across the page. The formula is shown, and where an assumption matters (a rate of return, an inflation rate, a holding period) it is stated next to the result. Data studies describe their data source, period and method so they can be reproduced.
Review and updates
Each article shows the date it was last reviewed. We review tax and regulatory content after each Union Budget, after relevant SEBI, RBI or PFRDA changes, and at least once a year. When a review changes something material, the article carries a short update note.
Corrections
If you find an error, email support@imrawal.com with the page link. We check every report. Confirmed factual errors are corrected promptly and, if the error could have affected a reader's decision, the correction is noted on the page.
